Frequently asked questions
The useful details
Open each question to read the answer.
01Do I need an existing cyber security background?
Not necessarily. Your starting point is assessed before a path is recommended. Foundational theory is taught where needed, but it is always connected to practical configuration, observation and troubleshooting.
02Is the training only for technical roles?
No. Hacktivity1 covers defensive and offensive roles as well as security management, governance, risk and compliance. Management and GRC learners use the lab to understand the systems, evidence and operational decisions behind policies and reports.
03What do learners build?
The environment can include a type-1 VMware ESXi hypervisor, pfSense or OPNsense, segmented networks, Windows Server Active Directory, Windows endpoints, Linux systems, business applications, identity workflows, endpoint tooling and centralised security logging.
04Which security tools are used?
Tool selection depends on the path and environment. Training may use Splunk, Wazuh, Security Onion, Microsoft Defender, Nmap, Wireshark, Suricata, Zeek, Kali Linux and incident case-management tooling.
05How are sessions delivered?
The model is designed for one-to-one instruction and small groups so learners can ask questions, demonstrate their reasoning and receive feedback while they configure and investigate.
06Does Hacktivity1 guarantee employment?
No training provider can responsibly guarantee a job. Hacktivity1 focuses on practical capability, technical confidence and the ability to explain your work clearly in realistic scenarios.
